Ki Hacely, ND, LAc, Dipl. Ac

Dr. Hacely is focused on providing you with the highest quality Natural Medical Care. Her goal is to get you well and teach you how to keep yourself functioning optimally. Natural Medicine is the practice of restoring the body’s normal function, though enhancing the body’s innate ability to heal itself. When normal function is restored, the body no longer needs to produce symptoms. In order to restore optimal function, it is important to understand a person’s life and health history to find the root of their disharmony and bring relief to the body and mind.

There are many natural healing traditions, Dr. Hacely specifically uses the knowledge of Naturopathic and Chinese medicine. She completed two programs from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM), both the Naturopathic program and the Masters in Acupuncture program. She treats pain, chronic and debilitating diseases, injuries, and illnesses using the wisdom from both traditions. Her practice at CMCC is specifically focused on utilizing acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Dr. Hacely is a lifelong learner and is inspired by new and traditional therapies to enhance the body’s inherent healing response. She is inspired by her many mentors from NUNM, specifically Brandt Stickley, L.Ac. and his mastery of Dr. Shen Hammer’s work, a psychiatrist turned acupuncturist. Bob Quinn L.Ac. and his mastery of Dr. Manaka and Kiiko Matsumoto’s L.Ac. Japanese tradition of gentle needling. Ken Glowacki, L.Ac. and his approach to orthopedic acupuncture from the works of Whitfield Reaves L.Ac. and Matt Callison L.Ac.

Desiree Swearingen, LMT, CCA

Desiree learned the value of massage in health and wellness plans from her first experience with naturopathic medicine as a teenager, receiving reflexology & neuromuscular testing from her step-mother & grandparents’ (even if they didn’t speak much English) caring touch, all the way through graduating from Cambridge College (later known as Anthem College) in 2008.

Massage has many benefits, including improved circulation and function of our bodies’ soft tissues (think relief for tight, knotted, scarred, and adhesive muscle tissue), positive effects on our sympathetic nervous systems, and enhanced immunity by stimulating lymph flow. Experts estimate that upwards of 90% of disease is stress related. Massage is an excellent way to help manage that stress, which, in turn, translates into decreased anxiety, enhanced sleep quality, greater energy, improved concentration, & reduced fatigue. It’s like a domino effect of healthy goodness!

Desiree approaches each massage as an individual opportunity to facilitate wellness. Pulling techniques from several different modalities, such as Swedish, deep tissue, reflexology, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, biodynamic therapy, Tui Nah, cupping and many others, she provides an intuitive, integrative, & relaxing massage based upon each patient’s needs.

When she’s not in the office, Desiree spends much of her time volunteering & being involved in our community. She enjoys spending quality time with her son & their dogs, traveling, reading, as well as being a part of & discovering all the diverse activities that our beautiful Pacific Northwest & unique Portland metro area have to offer.

Jackie Johnson, LMT, CCA

Jackie is a graduate of the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy, internationally known as the premier study abroad program for massage therapy certification. Located at the edge of the rain forest in the remote coastline village of Samara, Costa Rica, she was able to immerse herself in mastering Western and Asian therapy modalities, a perfect way to merge her love for people and her strong desire to help others.

Jackie believes in the humanistic approach to wellness. While there are many benefits to massage, such as reducing stress, anxiety, headaches, and pain or soreness, Jackie focuses on caring, connecting, and comforting. She also enjoys raising patient’s awareness of postural stress. Many are surprised that massage also improves sleep and boosts immunity. Massage increases circulation, stimulating the lymph system to drain toxins out and away from cells so more nutrients can travel in. Following your massage, not only will you feel more relaxed, but you will also feel more alert, allowing you to be more productive for the remainder of your day. Nothing makes her happier than to see you glow!

Jackie’s inquisitiveness and appreciation for others stems from her multiple travels to Mexico, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. Her appreciation for nature and cultural experiences makes her home in Oregon a perfect base for the ‘Pura Vida’ way of life.

Brett Stewart, CCA, Office Manager

In addition to managing the office, Brett also handles all of the insurance and billing needs for the office.  Having a CCA license enables her to have hands on experience with the patients as well, assisting the DC’s with therapies.

Born in Arcadia, CA and raised in Virginia, Brett moved to Portland in 2013 after many travels in the US. She is excited to be part of the team and happy to be in Oregon.   After graduating from GMU with a B.A. in Anthropology, Brett traveled the country and tried many vocations. The most rewarding was the health/medical industry. With over 6 years in the medical field, Brett has a knack for patient care and enjoys helping others achieve optimal health. She worked for a rehab clinic and a NUCCA chiropractor in South Florida, and loved working with patients, so she decided to come back to what she enjoys by joining our clinic.

In her free time, Brett enjoys spending time with fiancee – planning their wedding in July 2017 and hanging out with their cat, Maggie. She loves taking in all things North West, as well as running and cooking. She loves to hike and be in the outdoors, which is why Portland is a great fit.

Ana Richter, Front Office Assistant

Ana comes to us from the great state of Montana.  She has a long-time interest in patient care and is pursuing a career in healthcare.  She moved to Portland this year and is loving the clinic environment.  Ana assists the office manager in front desk duties and insurance calls, as well as day-to-day operations.  She has a cat named Whidbey, she loves being outdoors and is an avid runner.
